How to trace stolen USDT on Tron (TRC-20)

USDT on Tron is the coin used most in scams. The good news: it is easy to trace, and Tether can freeze it.

Most investment and romance scams ask victims to pay in USDT on the Tron network, often called TRC-20 USDT. Transfers are cheap and fast, which is why scammers like it. But every transfer is public, and USDT can be frozen by its issuer, Tether.

Tracing it yourself

  1. Find the transaction hash of your payment in your wallet or exchange history.
  2. Paste it into Tronscan, the main Tron block explorer.
  3. Note the receiving address, then open it and look at where the USDT went next.
  4. Repeat for each hop. This gets slow when the money is split many ways.

Tracing it with ChainFreeze

Our free trace does all of this in one go, follows every split, and labels exchange wallets. It also shows whether USDT is still sitting in a wallet, which means Tether could freeze it. Start a free trace.

If USDT is still in a wallet

That is the best case. Ask Tether to freeze it as soon as possible: see how Tether freezes work.
