Crypto fraud is a crime under UAE federal law. Report it to the police; exchanges in Dubai are regulated by VARA.
The laws
- Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combatting Rumours and Cybercrimes covers fraud and other crimes committed online.
- Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 (the Crimes and Penalties Law) contains the general fraud offences.
Regulators
In Dubai, virtual asset businesses such as exchanges are licensed by VARA. Check whether a platform is licensed before using it.
